Seniors
Social connection is a crucial component of health and well-being at any age, but especially as we get older. For retirees, it is important to replace the social connections of work with new friendships, new interests and new opportunities to make a positive difference. The fun part is, we get to decide what those connections will be!

April Lesson Plan:
This month we use recycled materials to create sculptures inspired by local fish and wildlife.
May 6 with Mary Mitchell: We'll be making tissue paper flowers in honor of Mother's Day. Come with some stories to share about your mother...or mothers! Sometimes our mentors are also like mothers. We want to honor all of them.
May 13, 20 & 27 with Mary Beth Giraci: Creative Club will go back to drawing from observation as we explore perspective by drawing chairs. Perspective, which means “point of view “, is the technique artists use to create more three dimensional images by understanding how angles change according to one’s point of view. Through a series of fast and slow drawing exercises, students will draw the chairs utilizing distortion and the rules of perspective.
June 17 & 24, July 1 & 8: Creative Club will meet in Picnic Area C at the Shack in Sellwood Park

Join instructor Tracey Cronin for this creative workshop, where participants will have the opportunity to hand-build beautiful clay flower bowls. The bowls will be created over two sessions, and will be available to pick up approximately one week after the second session at Sellwood Community House.
About Tracey:
Tracey is a generational potter. She considers it her life’s honor to carry on her grandmother’s love of ceramic art. Engaging with clay is a life-long practice of hers—a sort of moving meditation that directs mindfulness. When she teaches clay art to others, her favorite thing to do is simply watch people’s faces light up as they create something that is both beautiful and personally meaningful.
